What began as an ambitious fundraising idea became an unforgettable journey for the BIS community. On September 4, six riders set off from the BIS City Campus in Munich-Schwabing, taking on more than 200 kilometres of climbs, headwinds, and breathtaking Alpine scenery before arriving at the BIS Grill & Chill in Haimhausen, where they were enthusiastically welcomed home.

But this was about much more than cycling. The first-ever BIS Tour des Alps was organised to raise funds for the BIS Fee Reduction Programme, helping talented students access a BIS education regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. By bringing the community together around this shared purpose, the team turned the school’s values of community, opportunity, and purpose into action.

And the community delivered! The Tour has raised €37,235 so far, with donations still open through the BetterPlace campaign. With its first successful ride behind it, the Tour des Alps may just be the beginning of a new BIS tradition — whether on two wheels, on foot, or through another adventure that creates opportunities for future students.

A huge thank you to our riders Florian Pape, Phil Drake, John Jacobsen, Dr. Philipp Tanner, Luca, and the entire support team, Fredi Mußler and Kathleen Konzett, as well as BIS students Sophie Mc Whirter and Amber van Wasen, who brought the journey to life on Instagram
